Two Machete-Wielding Thugs Shot Dead in Kulambiro

Two unidentified machete-wielding thugs were gunned down last night in a botched robbery in Kulambiro in Nakawa division in Kampala.

The deceased together with other still at large reportedly surrounded the residence of Nicholas Natif in Kulambiro armed with machetes, stones and housebreaking implements around 9pm with intentions of robbing his family.  

According to available information, when Natif failed to raise the money the thugs demanded, they bundled him in his vehicle Harrier registration number UBD 239A and tried to drive off. 

However, they were intercepted by officers from Tuba police post on a tip off by Natif’s wife.    

The robbers attempted to knockdown police officers prompting them to open fire, which killed two thugs on spot. Four others fled for dear life. 

Natif was also injured in the shooting and was rushed to Nakasero hospital by his family members where he is nursing wounds.

He explains that the robbers who were hiding behind his boss’s vehicle forced themselves inside the gate and hit him with a big stone on the chest and pinned him on the ground.

Godfrey Walusima, a private security guard in the neighborhood, says he is happy that at least two thugs were killed on spot, saying it might scare away the rest from attacking them.

Ben Mugisha, a resident of the area expressed concern about the increasing cases of robberies and burglaries in Kulambiro.

He disclosed that at least 3 residents have been attacked in a similar manner by thugs he suspects come from Kiwatule suburbs

Police Speaks Out

The Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Spokesperson; Luke Owesigire says they are pursuing the rest of the gang members and identify the two deceased persons.

The deceased’s bodies are lying at city mortuary in Mulago.
