The police in Kitgum District have arrested two of their own over negligence. This is after unknown thugs broke into the Kitgum Chief Magistrates Court premises on Tuesday night.

The suspects, Corporal Knox Leku and Police Constable Florence Lawino were arrested on Wednesday and are detained at Kitgum Central Police station.

The thugs gained entry to the Court premises and looted valuables in the Justice for Children offices and Registry of the Grade one Magistrate.

Jimmy Patrick Okema, the Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson says that the two police officers who were assigned to guard the premises didn’t report for work on the night thugs broke into the court. The thugs broke into the court premises on the night the officers were absent and made off with a Dell laptop, Desktop monitor system unit, Laptop bag and an extension cable.

Okema says the suspects who didn’t give any reasons indicating why they did not report for work will be charged with negligence of duty.
