Two Saracen security guards have been killed by unknown assailants, who took off with a gun and unspecified amount of money.
Police in Kasese district are investigating circumstances under which two security guards belonging to Saracen Security Company were killed at night.
Joseph Andama, the Officer in Charge of Criminal Investigations at Kasese Central police station says the two men were on duty guarding Joseph\'s Initiative, Kasese Processing Factory in Nyakatonzi Cell in Kasese Municipality. The factory processes seeds and other agricultural produce.
According to police, the robbers used hammers and other objects to hit the guards on their heads killing them instantly.
The assailants broke into the offices of the company, opened the Money Safe and took away unspecified amounts of money. The robbers also took one of the guns from the deceased guards, while the second gun was left at the scene.
Andama identified the victims as Jostus Kapusu, a resident of Muhokya sub-county, and Moris Nzerebende a 30 year-old man from Rukoki sub-county.
Magezi Bukeka, the elder brother to Kapusu says he has been in the service for the last six years and had been deployed at the site for just two days. There are also reports that Nzerebende had just reported back from a short compassionate leave after losing his father last week.
The manager of the factory and officials from Saracen Security Company were not available for a comment.
The bodies have been taken to Kasese Health Centre III mortuary.
