Suspects Escape From Oyam Police Station With Firearm

Two suspected robbers have escaped from custody at Oyam Central Police station a police gun. The suspects are Robert Atim, and Bernard Ochan, both residents of Acimi Village in Acimi Parish in Myene Sub County in Oyam District.

The two reportedly grabbed a gun from a police constable identified as Daniel Aluku who had escorted them for a shortfall on Sunday evening and fled to safety.

He says the suspects were being held at Oyam CPS for aggravated robbery under CRB 239/2018. On Monday, John Peter Ematu, the North Kyoga Region Police Commander convened a crisis meeting to plan a hunt for the suspects.

 

This is the second time police in Lango is losing a gun to suspects fleeing from custody within a period of one year. Sometime last year, police lost a gun to a suspect at Starch Factory.

 

The suspect reportedly grabbed the gun from a cell's guard on duty and escaped with it. The thug used the gun to kill two mobile money attendants at Ayago trading center in Lira town.
