Uganda Cranes kick- started the 2015 Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup on wrong footing with a 2-0 loss to arch-rivals Kenya on Sunday in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Jacob Keli scored in the 29th minute before substitute Micheal Olunga made it 2-0 after 49 minutes. Uganda Cranes skipper Farouk Miya had his shot hit the bar, while Ceasar Okuthi also missed chances for Uganda.
It was also a sweet win for ex-Uganda coach Bobby Williamson who said it was good to start with a win in such a tournament.
After recess Uganda dominated play, but after some missed chances Olunga who replaced Keli made no mistake finishing off in style. Uganda who will face Zanzibar on Tuesday in Awassa are bottom of Group B, while Kenya are top and Burundi who stopped Zanzibar 1-0 on Saturday are second.
In an earlier game played on Sunday Tanzania humbled Somalia 4-0 in a Group A game. John Bocco and Elias Maguli netted a brace each to make sure Tanzania top the group.
