Uganda Cup: Mbale Heroes eliminates Gaddafi to storm round of Sixteen

Mbale Heroes made a comeback after losing the first leg game at Kyabazinga stadium in Bugembe that had slimmed hope of reaching the Knockout stage.

Mbale Heroes has today eliminated Big league fellows Gadaffi FC in spot kick to grab round of sixteen in the ongoing Stanbic Uganda Cup at Mbale Municipal stadium.

Mbale Heroes made a comeback after losing the first leg game at Kyabazinga stadium in Bugembe that had slimmed hope of reaching the Knockout stage. Gadaffi had won the first leg 1:0 and only wanted one goal to extend thier lead however the Mbale Heroes was also looking for a one goal to make a comeback. 

The game started on a high note with both teams attacking as Mbale heroes was looking for a goal to level the aggregates. While Gadaffi also wanted a goal to extend their lead of the tie, however Mbale looked more Organized and got their goal through Musa Malunda in half time. 

Both teams continued attacking either sides but none managed to hit the target hence ending 1:0 in favor of the hosts, the goal leveled the aggregates and sent the game straight to shoot outs where Mbale Heroes finally sealed it to the next round after Gadaffi failing to net two of the penalties

Goal keeper Hatim Herbert was on spot to save  Bithum Ronald’s effort and Najib Fesali shot was denied by the woodwork while Brian Olega netted the winner for the host and thus progressing to the round of sixteen.

Gaddafi FC however did not start with their striker Joel Madondo who scored their goal in the first leg of the tie, Madondo was out on injury.
