Uganda Cup Semifinals: BUL, NEC FC in One All Draw

NEC's head coach, Hussein Mbalangu, sees the away draw as a favorable outcome, providing better odds against BUL FC in the second leg.
BUL FC's Jerome Kiirya celebrates after scoring a goal for his side.
The Uganda Cup semifinals, held at the Njeru-based FUFA Technical Center, saw BULFC and NEC FC battle to a one-goal draw.

BUL asserted dominance in the first half, securing a goal from their attacking midfielder, Jerome Kiirya, in the 17th minute. However, their lead was short-lived as NEC's Joseph Dhata scored the equalizer in the 53rd minute.

Despite BUL's optimism to avenge their previous 1-0 loss to NEC in the Uganda Premier League series, they settled for a single point, enhancing NEC's chances of reaching the Uganda Cup finals.

NEC's head coach, Hussein Mbalangu, sees the away draw as a favorable outcome, providing better odds against BUL FC in the second leg.

Mbalangu commends his team's adherence to their game plan, emphasizing their resilience in bouncing back after conceding an early goal.

BUL's assistant coach, James Magala, aims to address defensive mistakes to overcome NEC in the second leg. Magala acknowledges the fatigue among players due to tight fixtures, with minimal resting time between Uganda Cup and UPL matches.

Despite these challenges, BUL is gearing up for a showdown against Vipers SC at Namboole Stadium on May 1st.

Both teams are tied with 46 points in the UPL standings, and Magala plans to prioritize recovery on Monday, followed by training sessions on Tuesday, in preparation for their upcoming match.
