Uganda's Cricket team has defeated Vanuatu in the on-going 2018 ICC World Cricket League Division 4 qualifiers in Kula, Lumper, Malaysia.
The win by 81 runs on Wednesday sends Uganda to second place on the log with 4 points behind Denmark who have won all their three games. Uganda started with a loss to Malaysia over the weekend before recovering to defeat Bermuda.
Uganda batted first to put on 222/8, while Vanuatu chased and collapsed at 141 (47/50). Mohammed Irfan was Uganda's highest scorer d with 51 runs, while Riazat Ali Shah picked 38 runs and Hamu Kayondo 28.
Vanuatu's captain Andrew Mansole scored a game high 69 runs, while Ronald Tari picked 20 runs. Vanuatu remain glued to the bottom of the six team table after losing all three games.
Coach Steve Tikolo will lead his team against table leaders Denmark on Thursday in a game they will be all out to win to move top of the log since they have a better run rate.
In the other games played on Wednesday Denmark beat hosts Malaysia by 33 runs, while Bermuda picked their first win against Jersey. The best two teams will qualify for Division 3, while two drop to Division 5.
The ICC World Cricket League Division Four in Malaysia will also form part of the 2017 - 2022 cycle of the World Cricket League, which determines the qualification for the 2023 Cricket World Cup.
