Ugandan Bus Company Expands Business to Burundi

Travel from Kampala to Bujumbura could become much easier, thanks to Gaaga Coaches Bus company which has introduced Uganda's first direct Bus service to Burundi.

On Wednesday, GaaGaa Coach flagged off the maiden Kampala-Bujumbura direct bus service. This brings to three the number of direct bus services from Uganda to Bujumbura.The other bus companies are Amahoro Coaches and Regional Buses.

GaaGaa becomes the first Ugandan bus company to ply direct the Kampala-Bujumbura route.

James Nyakuni, the managing director of GaaGaa Coaches, says apart from doing business, he also wants to contribute to the increase in trade between Uganda and Burundi.

One-way ticket between Kampala and Bujumbura costs 40,000 shillings.

Since Burundi joined the East African Community as its fifth member, trade between Uganda and Burundi has blossomed with many Ugandans setting up shop in Bujumbura.
