The Permanent Secretary says teachers will be expected to login with a link from the commission then write their profile that will be stored on the system and wherever an advert is put they can easily access it through their profile.
The Uganda National Teachers Union -UNATU, is asking teachers to embrace computer literacy as their own
initiative and avoid waiting for the government arranged ICT programs that are already delayed.
Filbert Baguma, the UNATU general
secretary says that as their sector tries to shift from the analog setting to
the digital era, the teachers also need to move in the same direction and
His reaction follows information
from the Education service commission requiring all teachers, tutors, lecturers
and the non-teaching staff to open up email addresses in order to access
information from the commission.
Baguma says teachers should know
that they cannot dodge the digital era and for this reason they have to embrace
it but also noting that the system will be helping to solve the middle men
tendency that has been exploiting teachers.

Dr. Asuman Lukwago, the permanent
secretary education service commission explains that with support from the
United Nations Capital Development Fund and National Information Technology
Authority -NITA Uganda, they want to ensure that the recruitment process is
done using the online system.
Dr.Lukwago says with the Covid -19
pandemic they have been able to wake up on several issues and one of them is
the importance of online recruitment.
He says this was
only delayed yet other public service entities had already embraced it.

He says they will be educating the
teachers on how to navigate the system such that all those interested in
applying for the advertised vacancies have no excuse about the system.
He says teachers will be expected to
login with a link from the commission then write their profile that will be
stored on the system and wherever an advert is put they can easily access it
through their profile.
