Unidentified Body Recovered in Sugarcane Plantation

The body was discovered by casual labourers who had gone to harvest cane pieces.
Police in the Kiira region, on Thursday, recovered the body of an unidentified man from a sugarcane plantation, in Mutai-central zone, Jinja district.

The body was discovered by casual labourers who had gone to harvest cane pieces. They later alerted residents within the neighborhood, who in turn notified police authorities to intervene.

The body was taken to Buwenge Health Center IV mortuary, for postmortem.

Abdullah Mudabanda, a resident, says that the deceased is not known in the area and efforts to cross-check his particulars from the surrounding villages have not yielded any results.

Mudabanda suspects that the unidentified man was killed from another place and his body dumped in their village.

The Deputy Officer in charge of Mutai Police Station, Mohammed Tabu says that detectives have been dispatched to expedite inquiries into his death.

Tabu also adds that efforts of tracing the deceased's relatives are underway.
