Unknown assailants have again raided Rakai district, killing one person and injuring another seriously. The incident occurred on Friday night in Kilangila village in Kagamba Sub County in Rakai. The deceased has been identified as Cissy Nakalawa, while the injured is Sande Kagolo Mayembe, the chairperson of Kagamba Sub County Traditional Healers Association. John Ssendagi, the defense secretary Kalangila village says that the assailants drilled a hole in the wall of the victim’s house which they used to gain entry and hack their victims.

Kagolo is battling for his life at Kalisizo Hospital where he was rushed in critical condition. He sustained deep cuts on the head, hands and legs. Rose Nabakooza, the Rakai district Criminal Investigations officer says that a team of detectives has been dispatched to the crime scene to ascertain what happened.
The murder of Nakalawa brings to 16, the number of people killed by unidentified assailants in Rakai under similar circumstance since the beginning of this year. In January, unidentified assailants hacked Pastor Steven Mugamba to death together with eight members of his family. Last month, PresidentYoweri Museveni ordered heavy police deployment in the district and pledged to arrest the masterminds of the murders. However, no suspect has been arrested in connection to the murder.
