Gunmen Abduct Five in Yumbe

Josephine Angucia, the North Western Police Region spokesperson says the abductors were armed with four SMG rifles, a grenade and plus bows and arrows.

Unidentified gunmen believed to be from South Sudan have abducted five people from Yumbe district.  Four of the abductees have been identified as Joseph Ewako, a teacher at Matu primary school, Alex Loko, a peasant farmer, Silver Agoro, a local councilor, Geoffrey Atibuni.

 

 

 

According to information obtained by URN, the five were abducted by six gunmen from Matu trading center in Kerua Sub County at around 2:30am on Tuesday morning. Josephine Angucia, the North Western Police Region spokesperson says the abductors were armed with four SMG rifles, a grenade and plus bows and arrows. 

 

 

She however, says the gunmen abandoned three abductees and proceeded with Silver Agoro and Joseph Ewako to South Sudan. She however, says Agoro escaped from the abductors in South Sudan where he was tortured.

Angucia rules out suspicion that the gunmen could be rebel, saying the gunmen could have been deployed to handle unresolved border conflict between the Madi and Kuku.

 

According to Angucia, they have already notified their South Sudan counterparts to investigate the matter and identify the gunmen.
