investigating the murder of unidentified woman along Gabula road in Jinja
municipality, just 50 meters from Jinja Central Police station.
The woman’s lifeless body was found lying on the roadside
dressed in a torn muddy seemingly pink dress this morning. Police
have opened inquiries at Jinja CPS under CRB 505/2019.

before she was strangled to death.
A resident of
the area told URN on condition of anonymity that she heard someone screaming
for help around 4am but ignored it thinking it was a couple’s fight.
"When you're inside the house it's hard to discern
between different voices and on hearing a deep voice of a woman screaming, i
mistook it for a couple’s fight, but when i opened my door, i realized a woman
lying dead before my sight," she said.

"Gabula is one of the residential areas in the
municipality but locals are not vigilant at all. They never show concern for
their neighbors in cases of night attacks. We also lack security lights and our
village security team cannot operate in darkness," he said.
The Kiira Region Police Spokesperson, Diana Nandawula, says
investigations are underway to find the killers and trace for the deceased's
relatives. Police have handed over the deceased's body to Jinja Regional
Referral Hospital mortuary for postmortem.
