Sarah Aguti Nyangkori has been officially endorsed as the Uganda People's Congress (UPC) candidate for the Dokolo District Woman Member of Parliament By-Election.

Nyangkori emerged unopposed during the District delegate's conference held at St. Francis Xavier Vocational School in Dokolo, where Anna Okwir and Josephine Acen Atia, who had initially expressed interest in the candidacy, withdrew their bids in her favor.

The conference, attended by 204 delegates from across the District, saw Aguti Nyangkori nominated to represent the party. Nyangkori previously carried the party's flag during the 2021 general election for the same seat. Eng Voxpop on stepping down:

In response to stepping down, Anna Okwir called on UPC supporters to rally behind Nyangkori and emphasized the importance of garnering support from other political parties.

“It’s not only UPC going to vote so we should know that we need all these other parties to vote for us and we should show respect and use very good language towards them because our individual strengths may not help us," she said.

Chris Ongom, UPC's vice chairman for Northern Uganda, clarified that the party's flag bearer is elected by the district delegate conference, emphasizing the democratic process within the party.
