A Uganda People's Defense Forces-UPDF soldier in Dokolo district has narrowly survived for alleged murder.

Angry residents of Beobwol village descended on Moses Ogwal, a UPDF attached to Bombo Military barracks and thumped him into coma for causing the death of Boniface Aluku.

According to information obtained by URN, the two reportedly picked a quarrel while drinking local brew at the home of a resident of Beobwol village only identified as Alinga on May 20th, 2018.

They left the drinking joint together and fought along the way. Ogwal reported the incident to the area LC I Chairperson, Geoffrey Okure, saying someone had attacked him along the way and fled.

Okure advised the officer to go home and promised to handle the matter the next day. However, Aluku's lifeless body was found lying along the road at 6am the following morning.

David Ongom Mudong, the North Kyoga Region Police spokesperson, says residents mobilized swiftly and stormed Ogwal's home. They apprehended him and assaulted him into coma but was rescued by police and rushed and to Dokolo Health Center where he is admitted under police protection.

Police also handed over Aluku's body to Dokolo H/C IV for postmortem to establish the cause of death. He says they have opened up a case of murder against the officer at Dokolo Central Police station under CRB: 325/2018.

Richard Odyek, a resident of Beobwol village says they don't know what sparked the fight between the two men.
