The interim Uganda
Cranes head coach Abdullah Mubiru has named the final squad that will travel to
South Africa for the upcoming international build-up match against Bafana
Bafana on June 10th, 2021 at the Orlando Stadium, Soweto.
The 23 man squad is dominated by local-based players with 15 players from
different Uganda Premier league clubs making it to the list. Five of the
players are from Uganda Hippos including Abdul Aziizi Kayondo, Bobosi
Byaruhanga, Isma Muguluusi, Steven Sserwadda and Derrick Kakooza.
The other local-based players are Charles Lukwago, Paul Willa, Walusimbi Enock,
Juuko Murushid, Lwaliwa Halid, Mbowa Paul Patrick, Muhamud Hassan, Shafik
Kagimu, Ibrahim Oriti and Steven Mukwala. The final team was confirmed after the last training at the MTN Omondi Stadium
Lugogo on Monday.
The team kicked off preparations for the friendly on Monday
last week. After announcing the squad, the Uganda Cranes stand in Coach Abdallah
Mubiru hailed the players who have been part of the training camp for their
commitment and eagerness to represent their country.

According to Mubiru, the South African based players
including the goalkeeper, Ismael Watenga and Moses Waiswa will
join the team when it arrives in Soweto, South Africa.
