US University to Support Skilling of Disadvantaged Nile Students

The US based Kedmonds International University has signed a 20-year partnership with Nile University in Arua to support skilling of disadvantaged and needy students.  

The partnership agreement was announced at a Press conference at the Nile University Campus in Arua on Thursday. It seeks to address unemployment through On Campus Learning Model for under graduates.

While delivering a key note speech on the partnership, Dr. Fanwie Atanga, the spokesperson Board of Directors Kesmonds International University, said their focus is on courses that provide immediate solution to societal problems like health and technology. 

He says Kesmonds University shall provide personnel and material contribution to enable hands-on skill to the students.

Pauline Wanjiru Gitiha, the Director Kesmonds University Eastern Africa based in Nairobi Kenya explains that Kesmonds international Group also seeks to enhance career development among school drop outs by instilling in them survival skills.

Reverend Fr. Nakari Adiga, the Secretary Nile University commended the management of Kesmonds University for choosing West Nile to roll out Entrepreneurial skills development and Research Grant of up to US$ 1000 annually to needy students in the region.

Nile University attained autonomy last year as a fully Fledged Private University. The university was affiliated to Uganda Martyrs University for over 15 years. 

The new partnership makes Uganda the 54th country to join Kesmonds International Partnership World over. 

Nile University has enrollment of over 250 students pursuing both under graduate and Diploma courses.
