Vigilante in Kitgum Kill Suspected Karimojong Warrior

The Kitgum Resident District Commissioner, William Komakech told URN in an interview that the deceased was part of two other armed warriors who had invaded Kamading village on the fateful morning from Kotido district.
A local vigilante group in Orom Sub-county in Kitgum District has killed a male suspected Karamojong warrior. The suspected warrior was reportedly attacked and killed from Kamanding village in Lolwa Parish on Monday morning.

The Kitgum Resident District Commissioner, William Komakech told URN in an interview that the deceased was part of two other armed warriors who had invaded Kamading village on the fateful morning from Kotido district.

He says the warriors were suspected to have come for a spying mission to look out for cattle but some locals detected their suspicious movements and mobilized before killing one of them. According to Komakech, two other suspected warriors managed to escape from the locals who were armed with clubs.

“…These warriors were found by the local vigilante before they had finished their mission, two of them managed to get away during a pursuit while one was caught and unfortunately, the locals killed him...,” Says Komakech.

Komakech says Uganda People’s Defense Forces personnel who were alerted of the warrior’s intrusion attempted to pursue them but in vain. The incident comes about two months after armed Karimojong warriors invaded Agoromin village in Lolwa Parish and looted 60 animals belonging to a livestock farmer.   39 cattle were later recovered by the UPDF soldiers. Some three people were also killed in the same sub-county after suspected warriors raided Lapetak village in Loliya parish.
