Village Chairman in Omoro, Four Others Flee Over Death of 16- Year- Old Boy

The police in Omoro District are hunting for an LCI Chairperson and four others over the death of a 16 year –old boy.

Peter Oola, the Chairman of Rom Village, Patuda Parish in Omoro District reportedly ordered Nelson Ojok, Michael Odoch, Collins Pute and Charles Okumu to arrest and assault David Okello, 16, and his colleague identified as Patrick Ojok, 19, over theft.

Gerald Opio, an eyewitness told police that the boys had broken into the shop of Florence Auma on July 4 and allegedly stole a box of laundry soap and a curtain. It is alleged that Oola ordered their arrest for theft.  

 

According to Opio, Oola’s colleagues arrested teenagers tied them and took them to Oola’s home where they were beaten severely, leaving Okello dead and Ojok critically injured.

David Mudong Ongom, the Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson says that Oola and the other suspects fled their homes on Monday night for fear of being arrested.

According to Mudong, Ojok is undergoing treatment at Gulu Regional Referral Hospital.

He says once arrested, the suspects shall be murder or manslaughter and attempted murder.
