Police in Lyantonde district has arrested a village chairperson for ordering the murder of his wife’s lover. The Bweza village chairperson used his two sons and two other men to commit the act.
The village chairperson Godfrey Byavuba has been arrested with his sons Nicholas Muhwezi and Simon Mwewezi. Along with them are accomplices Wilson Muteguya, and Charles Mandy.
Bweza village is located in Mpumudde Sub County, Lyantonde district.
It is alleged that the group was hired by the village chairperson Byavuba to kill Kalinzi for reportedly having a love affair with his wife who was not identified.
Kalinzi, a casual labourer at Byavuba’s home, was murdered on Sunday night on his way back home from a bar in the trading center.
Preliminary police investigations indicate that Byavuba promised to pay the group 500,000 shillings for the job and he had paid a deposit of 100,000 and the balance of 400,000 shillings was to be cashed after executing the mission.
The group was exposed after the arrest of Muteguya who was reportedly found with blood stained clothes and on interrogation he revealed his accomplices.
Lyantonde District Police Commander Timothy Eyaku Keith says that police investigations into the matter have kicked off.
Eyaku condemned Byavuba for ordering the murder of a man instead of separating from the woman.
He says that the group is likely to face charges of murder when police investigations into the brutal murder are completed.
