Voting Yet To Start In Wakiso Town Council

Riots broke out at Wakiso Health Centre I in Wakiso Central as voters clash with election officials over delays in delivery of voting materials. The police had to intervene to restore order.

 

There is no activity at two polling stations at Wakiso Muslim School in Wakiso town council after voters abandoned the area towards 1pm.

 

At Kikokiro and Kisimbiri Church of Uganda Primary School polling stations voters are still waiting for the exercise to start.

 

Voters in several polling stations in Nabweru and Nansana and Kawempe areas are yet cast their ballots

 

The start of voting in the 2016 elections has been marred by delays in delivery of voting materials in different parts of the country including those within and around Kampala.

 

The Electoral Commission admitted in a press release that there have been delays, but the commission chairperson Eng Dr Badru Kiggundu said most of the challenges have been addressed.  

 

Kiggundu blamed the delays on the problem of transportation of electoral materials.
