W. Nile Golf Club prepares to host Uganda Tour Open

The event to take place May 18th is expected to feature over 90 golfers from 12 Clubs around Entebbe, Jinja, Tooro, Kitante, Kinyara, Kasese, Kilembe, Kabale among others.

All is set for the first ever Uganda Tour Open golf tournament to be hosted by West Nile Golf Club in Arua.

The event to take place May 18th is expected to feature over 90 golfers from 12 Clubs around Entebbe, Jinja, Tooro, Kitante, Kinyara, Kasese, Kilembe, Kabale among others.

Sponsored by Uganda Golf Union and the Uganda Tourism Board, the event will attract over 150 participants. Jimmy Matata, the chairman West Nile golf Club says bringing the tournament to West Wile provides a golden opportunity for their members and the general public to appreciate the game and get to know each other.

Meanwhile Emmy Arima, captain of the West Nile Golf Club says the tournament has provided them with an opportunity to improve further on the Golf Course. He said their course is currently ranks 3rd in the Country after Namulonge and Mbale Golf courses. Arima said all is being done to ensure that the tournament is successful.

Patricia Nakuya one of the three lady golfers from West Nile based in Arua says they expect a very competitive tournament which will also give women golfers chance for exposure.

Cue out: the district…//  West Nile Golf Club currently with 25 members and 30 Kadis (Golf Bag Carrier boys) last hosted a tournament in 2009 which was sponsored by MTN Uganda. According to the organizers, Uganda Tourism Board Bus will transport the golfers to various sites of interest in West Nile before and after the tournament.
