The Democratic Party- DP Norbert Mao has said that the party will not entertain acts of double standards among its members.

While addressing a rally at Busimbi division playground in Mityana municipality on Tuesday, Mao noted that many people pretend to be DP party supporters yet they are affiliated to other political parties.

// “cue in: DP tuli mulutabaalo...

Cue out: .. ekyo tekiriiwo,” //

Mao’s remarks come days after the DP National Treasurer Mary Babirye Kabanda and the National Vice Chairperson Dennis Mukasa Mbidde publicly declared their support to National Unity Platform-NUP party presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu.

Mao says that unlike in the past when people used to quit DP and later return to the party, the option will no longer be applicable and the party is ready to remain with a few people members who are committed to the cause of the party.

// “cue in: ate kuluno tugaddewo...

Cue out: .. naye ebikanja bigenze,” //

Mao also said that the presidential campaigns are not about making empty promises of constructing roads, hospitals or extending electricity but rather exposing the ills of the government and what is taking place in the country.

// “cue in: kano akalulu sikaakusuubiza…

Cue out: “…kubanga nze khalliifah,” //

Mityana District DP Chairperson Expedito Kalyango said that DP has fronted 84 candidates who will contest for different elective positions in the district.

// Cue in: omulundi guno mu Mityana …

Cue out: “…nebatwala obuyinza,” //

There was excitement from the DP party supporters when Mao’s police bodyguards blocked Martin Okoyo, the District Police Commander from getting closer to the candidate. Okoyo wanted to stop Mao from addressing his supporters since he was speaking past 6.00 pm the time when the campaigns are supposed to end.
