West Ankole Diocese Halts Installation Of Church Pillars

West Ankole diocese yesterday abruptly called off a function to recognize 22 Christians as pillars of church of Uganda leaving several members confused. The function was expected to take place at Kyabugimbi archdeaconry in Kyabugimbi Sub County Bushenyi district in vain.
West Ankole diocese yesterday abruptly called off a function to recognize 22 Christians as pillars  of the church, leaving several members confused.

The function was expected to take place on Tuesday at Kyabugimbi archdeaconry in Kyabugimbi Sub County Bushenyi district.

 

Those selected for recognition organized huge feasts and invited their friends and relatives to celebrate their titles, which is one of the highest in the church. Rev. James Rutaraka, the West Ankole Diocesan Secretary was expected to preside over the function before it was called off abruptly.

 

 Rev Yonah Katoneene, the Bishop of West Ankole Diocese called of the function saying that it was organized without authorization from the diocese.  Bishop Katoneene also said that they received complaints and petitions from a cross section of Christians challenging the criteria used to select members for recognition.

 

But Eunice Kobusingye, a member of Kyabugimbi archdeaconry says that she received some information from some church leaders that they should not have included Vasta Muzoora, the widow to Col. Edison Muzora on the list of the pillars.

 

Kobusingye says that leaders at the church decided to recognize Vasta Muzoora for her tireless efforts towards the church and her patience in the absence of her husband. She says that those opposed to Vasta, are not comfortable with her recognisition under matter surrounding her death are resolved.

Muzoora’s body was dumped at his home late last month by unknown people. His mystery death has led to the arrest and subsequent detention of several people.
