Leaders from West Nile are demanding for immediate action to recover the Ambulance which went missing in March.

The Ambulance belonging to Arua Regional referral hospital went missing from the hospital parking yard.  The hospital authorities realized that the Toyota Land Cruiser ambulance registration number UG 6812M was missing when Arua Resident City Commissioner, Martin Oroch requested for it to transport two injured URA enforcement officers for emergency treatment following a mob attack.

The Health Ministry donated the missing ambulance valued at Shillings 300milion to Arua Regional Referral Hospital last year. The driver parked the ambulance in the hospital yard and left the keys behind.

However, up to date, it has never been recovered despite police efforts to investigate its disappearance.

In a meeting to address the transport challenge for managing Covid19 patients in the greater Arua, the leaders demanded that efforts should be put in place to recover the missing ambulance.

Muzaidi Khemis the Mayor of Arua Central Division says that the absence of the Ambulance has hindered the response to Covid-19 cases.

Dr Joyce Moriku the former state Minister for Primary Health Care, now State Minister for Primary Education said the ambulance must be recovered at all costs. She is surprised that it was stolen in broad-daylight day and it has never been recovered.

Grace Freedom Kwiwucwiny the State Minister for Northern Uganda has tasked the people who have any information on the whereabouts of the ambulance and the people suspected to be behind its disappearance to come up and support efforts in its recovery.

Following the disappearance of the ambulance, three Security Guards who were on duty were arrested and detained at Arua CPS but were later released on Police bond.

No report has been released by the police since the disappearance of the Ambulance.

Last month a group of people in Arua threatened to demonstrate against the hospital administration for dragging its feet in attempting to recover the ambulance but police blocked the protest.
