Wildfire Burns Down 9 Structures in Elegu

A devastating wildfire in Lorikwo West, Elegu Town Council, Amuru district, has reduced nine makeshift structures and numerous household possessions to ashes.

The fire, suspected to have ignited from a charcoal stove, started around 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, engulfing properties such as furniture, clothing, bedding, and cooking utensils.

David Ongom Mudong, the West Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson, revealed that on Wednesday evening, the Police fire and emergency rescue services in Elegu responded swiftly, successfully extinguishing the fire before it could spread to other nearby structures.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire originated from an unattended charcoal stove.
