Wobulenzi town council has lost 3.4 million shillings after a garbage truck that was under repair in garage was vandalized by unidentified people.

The Chairman LC 3 of Wobulenzi town council Sebastian Ssebagala said that the council released 3.4 million shillings and ordered the town clerk Joseph Ssebudde to oversee the repair and servicing of truck number UEG 286 to ease and speed up the work of garbage collection.

Ssebagala says that the work was done and payments were remitted to Car and Motor Garage in Kisenyi-Kampala. However, when council personnel were sent to pick up the truck, they were shocked to find the truck vandalized. Some of the items missing from the truck included the radiator, tyresand batteries. The truck had to be towed back to council grounds.

Ssebagala said that the truck had since been grounded at council premises. The town council executive had ordered the town clerk Joseph Ssebudde to explain in writing how the truck was vandalized and a plan to recover funds for repair.

// Cue in: “We directed town clerk…

 Cue out:…report we shall handle.’’//

The Wobulenzi youth councillor Francis Kiwanuka said that the financial committee had earlier tasked the town clerk to explain the utilization of funds and alleged vandalism of the machine but he had failed to do so.

But the town clerk Joseph Ssebudde denied involvement in the vandalism and said that the truck had outlived and was beyond repair.

// Cue in:``So this one…

 Cue out:…repairing that vehicle’’.//

Attempts to get a comment from Car and Motor garage-Kisenyi proved futile.
