Woman Dies After Being Hacked on the Head by Her Husband

"The health workers in Mulago hospital accorded us all the necessary attention required to save Babirye, but we lacked funds to purchase essential medicines which partly contributed to her demise," her sister says.

Police in Kiira region has mounted a search for Yazid Kafuko, aged 43 years, after causing the death of his 25-year-old wife, Brenda Babirye.

It is reported that, Kafuko, a resident of Wairaka B cell, in Kakira town council, in Jinja district developed a misunderstanding with his wife on 26th November, 2021, hacked her with a panga and fled into hiding.

She sustained deep cuts in the head, both hands and abdomen and was rushed to Jinja regional referral hospital's emergency unit for further management.

Her situation however, worsened and she was referred to Mulago national referral hospital where she breathed her last on Friday morning.

Phionah Kaudah, a relative of the deceased says that her sister's condition kept on worsening, yet they lacked money to purchase essential medicines needed for her treatment. "The health workers in Mulago hospital accorded us all the necessary attention required to save Babirye, but we lacked funds to purchase essential medicines which partly contributed to her demise," she says.

Kiira region's police spokesperson, James Mubi says that, Kafuko is wanted for murder under CRB 396/2021 of Kakira central police station.

Mubi further reveals that cases of domestic violence are increasing majorly due to  couples' failure to tolerate each other's weaknesses in marriage.
