Woman Held For Robbery of UGX10M

Iganga Police is holding a 34-year old woman on allegations of robbing 10 million shillings from Odedura Enterprises.

Police in Iganga has arrested a 34-year old woman on allegations of robbery. Annet Tusasire, a resident of Najanankumbi along the Kampala-Entebbe highway reportedly waylaid a delivery truck belonging to Odedura Enterprises at Nabitende village, along the Iganga-Kaliro highway on Monday 31st August and robbed the money at gun point.

 

The accused was arrested after the vehicle she was driving, registration number UAM 412 X together with another suspect still on the run rammed into a road side shop. The other suspect said to be male, managed to escape but Tusasire was arrested with the revolver pistol loaded with six rounds of ammunition.

 

The district police commander Iganga, Vincent Mwesigye says the accused will be charged in court with armed robbery. He urged travelers to take caution while driving in dangerous spots like Busesa hump along the Iganga-Bugiri highway, Namadope swamp along the Iganga- Luuka road, and Naibiri swamp along the Iganga-Kaliro highway.

 

Tusasire says she was escorting a traditional herbalist to Kaliro to treat a patient, and denied allegations against her.

 

Mwesigye also cautioned members of the public to avoid moving with huge sums of money without escorts from security personnel avoid similar incidents. Police in the district has intensified its operations within the district to check on the increasing cases of armed robbery.
