A woman has set herself ablaze in Lira town following a domestic brawl with her husband. The deceased has been identified as Aldrin Natukunda, a former guard with Security 2000 and resident of Central Park in Central Division.

Neighbours say that Natukunda had a fierce fight with her husband David Mugenyi on Wednesday night.

A neighbour Grace Apio, says Natukunda had been unhappy with Mugenyi's decision to bring three children he fathered with another woman to stay with them.  Mugenyi had brought the children to live with them a few days ago.

On Wednesday night, an angry Natukunda overpowered Mugenyi and chased him out of their house. Their landlady Eunice Obaa says that Mugenyi then managed to take two of the children with him and left. The third child was left in the care of a neighbour.

Natukunda then locked herself in the house and set it ablaze.

Mansur Suwed, the Central North regional police spokesperson, says the deceased was burnt beyond recognition. Her room was also severely destroyed. The landlady Obaa says Natukunda could have used petrol to set the fire.
