Woman, Six Month-Old Baby Killed in Omoro

Betty Lalam Kilama, the Ongako Sub-County Women Council Chairperson told URN that after breaking the door, they found the lifeless body of the baby with the nipples of her mother in his mouth.
Unknown assailants have killed a mother and her six months old baby in Omoro district. The deceased have been identified as 21-year-old Prossy Apiyo, 21 and her son, Jonathan Omoara, both residents of Oluba village in Kal parish in Ongako Sub-County.    

The duo’s decomposing bodies were found locked in their family grass thatched hut on Thursday morning after residents saw flies buzzing underneath the door shutter accompanied by a strong stench.   

Residents have linked the suspected homicide to the deceased’s husband who is still at large. 

Augustine Labongonyinge, the Oluba Village LC I Chairperson disclosed that Apiyo was last seen on Tuesday morning preparing lunch for workers molding bricks in their compound while the suspect was spotted leaving home late evening on the same day.

 

According to Labongonyinge, the couple had a history of numerous fights owing to unresolved family disputes adding that, they had repeatedly appeared before local council authorities to resolve their brawls.

The Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson, Patrick Jimmy Okema expressed regret over the incident. He said a team of detectives and Scene of Crime Officer were dispatched to study the crime scene.  

This brings to three, the number of murders reported in Omoro district this month. Early this month, Job Okot Acellam doused his estranged wife; Akongo Vicky and set her ablaze in Rom village in Pageya parish in Koro Sub County.
