Mondo Kyateka, Commissioner for Youth in the Gender, Labor and Social Development Ministry, has appealed to youths not to allow to be used to promote violence during the 2016 general elections.

Kyateka says it is unfortunate that some youths are being used by politicians to sabotage their opponent's rallies.

He instead advises the youth to focus on electing quality leaders who will cater to their concerns and demands once they ascend to power.

Cue Out:…to become enemies//

Mondo\'s remarks come on the backdrop of recent clashes between the supporters of NRM presidential candidate, Yoweri Museveni and those of his rival Amama Mbabazi in Ntungamo district.

The clashes broke out after NRM supporters attempted to disrupt Mbabazi's campaign rally. Edith Ssempala, a key strategist for Mbabazi's campaign, says as much as youths should vote, they should guard their votes against rigging.

Cue Out:…guard your vote//

They were speaking at the unveiling of the youth manifesto ambassadors in Kampala on Wednesday. They include musicians Fille Mutoni, Irene Ntale, Michael Ross and Vampino.

Under the youth coalition on electoral democracy, they will be advocating for issues on job creation, quality education and health, among others, entailed in the youth manifesto 2016-2021.

Mary Mutesi, the deputy spokesperson of the NRM campaign taskforce says youths should also look beyond politics but all sectors that emphasize youth participation.
